Spring is in the Air

Home

Well, at least it is supposed to be!   I think I must have been spoiled by the wonderful early spring we had last year.  We have had very few nice days so far and it is mid April.  Starting to get a bit depressing!

I’ve been thinking about my summers growing up, catching fireflies at dusk in the empty lot across the street and playing Blue Waters on the church steps at the end of the street I lived on.  Good times!

I was just thinking away while painting and this happy little house is what came out.  I used acrylic paints and a stencil to create the cloud bubbles for the background along with some pretty scrapbook papers cut out to create the house, hill and tree.  Then came some rub-ons, stamping and doodles with my Pitt Artist Pen.  I did a little shading around the papers with my Faber Castel Big Brush pens.  I added a bird to the roof and, using black paper and a little punch, I  created the music notes.  I used stickers for the words and the house number (110) which is the address number of the home I grew up in.    A little pearl embellishment for the door knob finished it off.

I’m loving the bright colors in this painting!

Where ever you are, I hope Spring finds you soon!
